Need
a bridge eh?
by Ed Thomason
The "bridge"
(at least what I am calling a bridge) is an option that may or may not
work with an audience. But a speaker may need to take a moment (a brief
moment) to get his bearings, relax and attempt to warm up to his
audience. While the audience is putting away song books, shuffling the
kids and finding their Bibles as a speaker you can begin to find your
"comfort zone."
The danger with using a bridge is when a
speaker never seems to cross over to the other side. If it is too long
or if he begins to sound patronizing he may lose the interest of his
audience even before he starts..
