When you don't have the time

Ministry is always very time consuming…Whether your title is full time or part time, we all know there is no part time ministry. It’s all full time. The Lord’s work takes a lot of time. People take a lot of time. For many years this could really get me down if I let it. The key, and encouragement, I want to give here is don’t let it get you down. Change your perspective. When you feel yourself getting frustrated with what you may feel like is time consuming, pray. Ask God to shift your heart. Philippians  2:1-11 show us a great example of shifting. It can seem harsh for us to hear when we are in the moment of wanting more time, but I encourage you to read through it and pray to be more like Jesus. Verses 3-4 say

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

God called your family to do the work you are in. Challenging as it can be, you are where you are for a purpose. Look around at the blessings and ways God is working through your family. Count it joy sister! Don't take your time away from your ministry for granted. Thank God for the breaks He gives you. Thank Him for the joy that’s in each day. Thank Him for the moments where you feel like you can “just breathe.” Thank Him for showing up at just the right moment. Thank Him for your ministry. Thank Him for it on the easy days and on the hard days. When we live with a posture of thankfulness, our hearts and minds are shifted to be more like Christ. The time we have “away from” our ministry seems so much more refreshing than when we aren’t living with thankful hearts. Also remember, the work you are doing is the Lord’s work. It’s not on you or your husband. It’s God working through you. You are partnering with Him on this journey. Let Him lead.

Life in ministry fills your life. It’s hard and challenging. Some days we feel like it’s consuming. But, let me ask you, don’t we want to be consumed with the work of the Lord? Breathe sister. Be thankful. God has you in His hands!
